Should...

Should American citizans learn to speak a second language?

I think that they don't have to learn English if they don't want to. I also think they shouldn't be forced to do something hey don't want to do. But being able to speak multiple languages is a very helpful thing.

Art Festival

Last Friday our class went to the Samoan Arts Festival at the FAA building near SPA. We danced in front of our parents and friends and made some money in the process. Our fellow schoolmates and teachers also danced.

We learned how to dance with the help of the preschool teacher, Ms. Leti. We fad dance practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, which was pretty hard at first because we also had to work with the middle school on the International Fair. On the last week before the Art Fest., we had to practise everyday, which got kind of boring, to tell you the truth.

The reason we had the Art Fest. was to have fun and to show people about the Samoan Culture. And maybe to make some money too.

My favorite part of the Art Fest. was going up and dancing , watching the other classes dance, and strangling Quinn because he called me an idiot.

Coral Reefs

Here are three things I find interesting about coral reefs in American Samoa:

1. There are some 70 square kilometers of coral reefs in American Samoa.

2. Local reefs have been seriously overfished and there are very few large fish left in the water.

3. There have been increases in coral bleaching and mortality. Some areas have been heavily impacted by coral diseases, which are usually rare.

Secret of the Andes

As you can see, I just got done answering some questions about chromosones and stuff.

I am now reading Secret of the Andes in my reading group. I'm like, 2 chapters behind Meredith and Teresa. At first it was pretty boring, then it started getting a little interesting.

Summary:

Cusi, a modern descendent of the ancient Incas, leaves his home in the Andes mountains to learn about his ancestors. Accompanied by his pet llama, Misti, Cusi discovers the truth about his people's history, and then must find a way to prove himself worthy of their noble legacy. Winner of the 1953 Newbery Medal.

Questions and Answers

What do scientists use karyotypes for? To see if a person has all the right chromosomes

How many pairs of chromosomes do humans have? 23

International Fair

Tonight's the International Fair and I am so freaked out. Me and Ariele are bringing Filipino foods. She is bringing Pansit and I am bringing rice cake. Pansit is a type of Filipino noodle thing that has vegitables, and some meat in it. Rice cake has rice in it and this coconut thing on top. I know what both of them taste like, and they taste great.

Here's a picture of Pansit. I couldn't find one of rice cake, but whatever.

SATs and OLSATs

I just finished taking my OLSAT (Otis-Lennon Student Ability Test) and it was pretty easy. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than the SAT but no. It was kinda like those brain ticklers on Tickle.com.

I think I did pretty well on my SAT. I was really long and got boring sometimes but I managed to get through. We had to do them on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and then our OLSAT today, which is Friday.

I'm ALMOST done with my Julie of the Wolves brochure, all I need to do is finish typing down my thoughts, and how it is related to my life.

Smell ya,
